Now is the time for all good men

On Thursday 21st of September, 2006, the Government of Egypt (GOE) decreed that Daylight Savings Time (DST) will end 1 week early and that the time change will occur at midnite of that day.

Well, it was no surprise that they were going to change it, seeing as how Ramadan was going to be on Saturday or Sunday and by removing DST we would have one hour less of fasting while we are awake. The whole country had been discussing the matter for a week now and finally they came to a decision.

So, yours truly, had to stay at work an extra hour, make sure that nobody was connected to the servers and then go in and change the time. But here was the dilemma; I have an ntp server and a backup ntp server. Changing the time won't do much. The ntp service will just sync the clocks back to what they were at the next sync.

Solution: My servers are suddenly in Johannesburg, South Africa :) via system-config-date on rhel systems
